Estudou-se o emprego de farelo de girassol no ganho em peso, na conversão e no custo de alimentação para suínos em crescimento e terminação.O delineamento experimental adotado foi o de blocos casualizados com 4 tratamentos e 6 repetições.Após 108 dias de experimentação concluiu—se que:Não houve efeito significativo entre os tratamentos no ganho em peso, conversão e custo de alimentação. Embora não houvesse diferença estatisticamente, as rações de farelo de girassol (50%) e farinha de carne (50%) proporcionaram ligeiramente melhores ganhos.O girassol pode ser usado para suínos em crescimento e terminação desde que seja fácil a sua aquisição no mercado.

The objective of this work was to check the use of sunflower meal (on the performance and feed efficiency in swine) in growing-finishing swine.Twenty four crossbred Pietrain-Piau and Pietrain-Berkshire pigs (20 barrows and 4 gilts), with 3,5 months of age and weighing an average of 33,46 kg at the beginning of the experiment were used.After 108 days the results were statistically analysed with the following conclusions:1. The total and average daily gain and feed efficiency didn’t present statiscally differences during the treatments.2. The rations proporcionated the same gain pratically.3. The sunflower substituted 100% of lightly better gains were proporcionated by the meat.4. Since the sunflower meal is available it can be used for feeding growing and finishing swine.
