Estudando 1.130 períodos de gestação de vacas da raça Holandesa, variedade preta e branca, mediante exame dos certificados de coberturas e nascimentos constantes dos Livros de Registro da Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Bovinos da Raça Holandesa, em São Paulo, desde Julho de 1936 até Outubro de 1946, os AA. concluíram que: 1.º) a média geral do período de gestação é de 276.2 ± 0.39 dias; 2.°) a amplitude de variação apresenta como limites mínimo e máximo, conjuntamente para machos e fêmeas, 240 e 333 dias; 3.°) há predominância de nascimentos de produtos femininos nos períodos mais curtos €. inversamente, de produtos masculinos nos mais longos; 4.°) entre 260 e 289 dias de gestação acham-se compreendidos 1058 períodos, representando 93.63% do total, com a seguinte distribuição: 524 machos (43.37%) e 534 fêmeas  (47.27%) ; 5.°) A classe de 270-279 dias, na qual se situa a média geral, agrupa 632 períodos, isto é, 55.93 % do total, incluindo 292 machos (25.84%) e 340 fêmeas (30.10%) ; 6.°) o confronto entre os dados averiguados pelos AA. e os verificados na mesma Jaça em outro meio por McCANDLISH, FITCH, McGILLIARD e DRUMM; KNOTT; mostra, em todos os casos diferenças consideradas estatisticamente significantes; 

In studying 1.130 gestation periods of Holstein Friesian cattle, through the certificates naming both the day the cow was bred and the day that the calf was dropped, collected from the Herd-Book of the Associação Brasileira dos Criadores de Bovinos da Raça Holandesa, in São Paulo, Brasil, from July 1936 to October 1946, the AA. concluded that: 1.º) the average lenght of gestation periods was 276.2 +0.39 %; 2.°) the lenght of the gestation periods varied from a "minimum" of 240 days to a "maximum " (if 333 days; 3.°) a predominance of male products in the longer periods and of female ones in the shorter ones was found; 4.°) 1.058. calves were dropped from 260 to 289 days of gestation, (93.63 ro of the total) with the following distribution: 524 males (43.37%) and 534 females (47.27%); 5.°) the class 270-279 davs in which the average is situaded grouped 632 periods (53.93 %) anel presented this segregated dístribution : 292 males (25.84%) and 340 females (30.10%); 6.°) the comparison of the data obtained by the AA. with those verified to the same breed of cattle in other countries (McCANDLISH; FITCH, McGILLlARD e DRuMM; KNOTT; showed in all. the cases, differences considered statistically significant ; 7.°) the comparison of the data obtained by the AA. with those verified in Brasil, in the same breed of cattle (JORDÃO anel ASSIS) showed notable coincidence of results; 8.°) the comparison of the data obtained respectively by JORDÃO and VEIGA; VEIGA, CHIEFFI, PAIVA, for Caracú, Mocho Nacional and Nellore cattle, bred in our country, with those establithed for Holstein Friesian Cattle by the AA. showed both statistic and pratical . signification.
