Susceptibility to gastrointestinal parasites in meat type ewes and ewelambs reared in intensive production system, and genetic markers

Resumo
There is a recent increase in meat sheep consumption in Brazil. Rearing sheep in tropical conditions is difficult because of the verminosis, which causes a lot of damage to the animals. The helminth control, especially Haemonchus contortus, is very difficult, because of the resistance that this nematode presents to the anthelmintcs. The identification and selection of animals genetically resistant will likely reduce dewormers utilization.
