Premunição e terapêutica das plasmoses bovinas.
Resumo
1 - No tratamento da piroplasmose, na premurnçao, a dose mínima eficaz do diaceturato do di-(4-aminofenil) ?(N-l,3) *, que resultou no total desaparecimento dos sintomas clínicos da doença e
restabeleceu os animais nas primeiras 24 horas, foi a de 2 mg por quilo, administrada em uma só dose, por via intramuscular. As doses de 5 e 8 mgjkg de Ganaseg não destroem o estado de pre-
munição dos animais.2- Nenhum dos animais tratados com Ganaseg, nas doses empregadas por nós, apresentou reação secundária indesejável. 3- Em 47 vacas prenhes de 4 a 7 meses, tratadas com doses de Ganaseg de 1 a 3 mgjkg, não ocorreu caso de abôrto. 4-No tratamento da anaplasmose na premunição, as injeções intramusculares de tetraciclina na dose de 2,5 mgjkg mostraram-se eficazes em 62,5% dos animais tratados, ao passo que as doses de 5 e 7 mgjkg mostraram-se eficazes em 100% dos casos 5-A dose de 12,5 mgjkg, via oral, causou o desaparecimento das manifestações clínicas da anaplasmose em 66,7% dos animais tra
tados. 6 A dose de 2,5 mgjkg de cloridrato de tetraciclina, administrada por via endovenosa, causou o desaparecimento das manifestações clínicas em 100% dos animais, sem qualquer reação secundária indesej ável.  7 - Os animais tratados com Ganaseg e tetraciclina mostraram-se

imunes ao ataque dos carrapatos portadores de B. bigemina, B. argentina e Anaplasma marginale.

Abstract

1) For treatment of piroplasmosis in experimentally infected cattle, of the Holstein type, the animal effective dose of p,p' -diguanyl-diazoamino-benzene which resulted in 100 % cure of the clinical maniíestations of the disease, as judged by fever reaction, was found to be 2.0 mgjkg. body weight, given intramuscularly in one injection. None of the Ganaseg doses employed in the range of 0.75 to 5.0 mgjkg. cleared the blood of babesia completely.  1) of the 47 cows 4 to 7 rnonths pregnant, treated with Ganaseg doses ranging between 1.0 to 3.0 mgjkg., none had abortion.  3)Exposure tests to ticks carrying B. bigemina, B. argentina, and A. marginale, of anirnals demonstrated complet immunity against piro. plasrnosis. The infectivity of the infested ticks was demonstrated in three non-prernunized susceptible calves. 4) 47 imported animais were experimentally infected with blood from a carrier containing the parasites B. bigemina, B. argentina and A. marginale, during the course of premunition. Piroplasmosis appeared at 9. 1 days which was treated with Ganaseg followed by anaplasmosis at 30.4 days. When the body temperature of the animais cured of piroplasmosis rose again due to anaplasmosis, treat-
ment with tetracycline hydrochloride (oral grade) was commenced at various doses, comparing the intramuscular, intravenous and oral routes. Clinical cures were judged by return to normal temperature within 48 hours.  4)2.5 mgjkg. tetracycline hydrochloride, given intravenously, resulted in 100% elimination of fever without any undue reactions.  4) The intramuscular dose of 2.5 mgjkg. tetracycline resulted in 62.5% cure, whereas 5.0 and 7.0 mgjkg. resulted in 100% elimination of fever.  4) 2.5 mgjkg. tetracycline hydrochloride injected intramuscularly in a
5% solution, did not cause any undue reactions. Larger doses at higher concentration of drug ali produced oedema at the site of the injection.  4) 12.5 mgjkg. given orally eliminated fever in 66.7% of the treated animais without any apparent ill effect on the rumen.  4) Exposure test to ticks carrying B. bigemina, B. argentina, and A. marginale, of the animais treated previously with tetracycline hydrochloride and cured against the clinical manitestations of anaplasrnosis showed complete immunity against new attacks of the parasites , The virulence of the infested ticks was demonstrated in three nonprernunized susceptible calves.
