Efeito da suplementação alimentar pré-acasalamento na prolificidade de ovinos das raças Ideal e Corriedale
Resumo

Estudou-se o efeito da suplementação alimentar pré-acasalamento (“flushing") em ovelhas das raças Ideal e Corriedale. A freqüência de parições gemelares foi pequena em ovelhas sem “flushing” (2,3% na raça Ideal e 0,6% na raça Corriedale), aumentando com a suplementação de 500 g/cabeça/dia (13,6% de parições gemelares na raça Ideal e 9,4% na Corriedale) e atingindo 30,5 % de parições gemelares na raça Ideal e 22,0% na Corriedale quando o “flushing” foi de 1.000 g/cabeça/dia. O ‘flushing” não alterou as freqüências dos tipos de pares de gêmeos nas duas raças.

Effect of flushing in the twinning rate of Pollwart and Corriedale ewes
Abstract

In the present work, we developed several extensive experiments with Pollwart (“Ideal") and Corriedale sheep flocks, at the Posto de Ovinos e Caprinos de Itapetininga, Instituto de Zootecnia, Secretaria da Agricultura do Estado de São Paulo, with the aim of investigating the effects of flushing on the twinning rate. The frequency of twin births is very low under natural conditions but the flushing of ewes of both races increased the twinning rate up to levels of 20-30%. The overall frequency of monozygotic twins among twin lambs was negligible (less than 1%).
